Meet Dr. Joni McNeely, President of the Wheatland and Area Hospice Society. The Society was formed to start a local rural independent hospice in Strathmore serving the Wheatland Area and provide hospice services in the community. Â
Part of the work involves fundraising, in which the Society is assisted through the Cheadle Lions Club Steering Towards Hospice Fundraiser, the Carseland Lions Club Farming for Hospice Fundraiser and the Gleichen and Cluny Lions Club PBR Rodeo Fundraiser in July, Â
Strathmore Lions in partnership with the Wheatland Housing Management Body are building a new lodge and the hospice will be in that new facility.Â
Tune in to learn more about the different partnerships between the Hospice Society and the Lions Club. Â
Joni is a retired family physician residing in the Wheatland area. She previously served on the boards of the Strathmore Victim Services Society and Alberta 55Plus Summer Games Society. Memories of love and friendship inspire her vision of community-based hospice services in the Wheatland area.Â
The Wheatland and Area Hospice Society’s mission is to provide improved rural hospice palliative care to patients and family through quality programs and services, community education, and facility development.Â
